RAIN Pioneers Project

RAIN Pioneers Project

As a school committed to ‘knowing, valuing and nurturing God’s world and one another’ we are excited to be working in partnership with our partner schools at All Saints C of E Primary School in Maldon and East Hanningfield C of E Primary School to make a difference to our world by collectively looking after it.

Children at Woodham Walter are working in partnership with The Essex Wildlife Trust to create wildlife corridors in their local community and are excited to share this exciting work with their partner schools.

We know that at our partner schools All Saints are redeveloping their Pond area to improve habitats for wildlife and that East Hanningfield are going to be focusing on growing various plants that will attract important insects such as bees and butterflies.

As part of also being more globally aware, pupils will share their efforts with the global community of RAIN pioneers so that they feel part of a community that is really making a difference.

As part of our joint Rain Pioneers Project, on Thursday 14th December 2023 Red Deer Class, the School Council and Class Representatives had an amazing time planting the edge of a farmer's field next to Bunsey Downs Golf Club.

The Eco Club helped organise a wildlife corridor of trees and hedges to encourage greater wildlife habitats. The Wildlife Trust donated all the trees and gave us a wonderful assembly about how we can protect wildlife in our own gardens and in the school grounds. The Wildlife Trust, parents and local volunteers then joined the children to help plant the hedges and Bunsey Golf Club kindly gave us a nice hot drink after we'd finished with the hard work.
